The Office of Audits supports the Department of State (Department) and the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) to improve management; strengthen integrity and accountability; and ensure the most efficient, effective, and economical use of resources.
To facilitate effective working relationships between OIG, Congress and the media, acting as a liaison with Congress and the media to explain OIG initiatives and programs and to promote the activities of all OIG offices.
The Office of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), permanently established in January 2018, leads the Office of Inspector General’s (OIG) efforts in recognizing, planning for, and managing risks across the organization.
The Office of Evaluations and Special Projects strengthens OIG’s oversight of the Department and improves OIG’s capabilities to educate employees regarding whistleblower protections.

The Office of Inspections provide the Department of State (Department) and the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) with systematic and independent assessments of mission leadership, policy implementation, resource management, and management controls.
The Office of Investigations conducts worldwide investigations of criminal, civil, and administrative misconduct related to programs and operations of the Department of State (Department), the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), and the U.S. Section of the International Boundary and Water Commission (USIBWC).
The Office of Overseas Contingency Operations Oversight collaborates with the Department of Defense (DoD) and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Offices of Inspector General (OIGs) and coordinates OCO oversight planning and execution within the Department of State (Department) OIG to fulfill the joint Lead Inspector General for Overseas Contingency Operations responsibilities of these three OIGs under Section 8L of the IG Act.
